The Political Studies Association of the UK is to promote and develop the study of politics. They were founded in 1950 and are the top association in the field in the United Kingdom. They have international membership including academics in current affairs, theorists, practioners, researchers, policy makers, students in higher education and political science. Membership is rapidly growing and is at over 1700. The Political studies Associations Executive Committee is held responsible for overall administration and policy. They are supported by a national office in Newcastle. They are committed to support the next generation of political scientist.
Membership includes a subscription to 6 different publications.

There are many events as well like the Edinburgh Festival of Politics in 2011. The Political Studies Association website itself has grown to a collection of over 12,000 links to various political information sites and sources listed on the internet.
The PSA holds a yearly awards ceremony which gives out prizes to political scientist, politicians and journalists. They have a network of over forth specialist groups that give research focus to members.
